We are shocked and saddened to report that William Rodgers, one of the six recent eco-defense arrestees, was found dead in his cell on December 22, 2005. Police reported that he had committed suicide by suffocating himself with a plastic bag, but according to friends and supporters his recent emotional state would not necessarily verify this claim. His friends, loved ones, and the larger Prescott Arizona community, as well as all who have been following this case, mourn this loss. William was an owner of an infoshop/used bookstore and long time activist. He will be much missed!
A day before William's death, we received the disturbing news that Stanislas Meyerhoff, another recent arrestee, has turned FBI informant and is currently snitching on others arrested in the same round-up. Another man, Jake Ferguson, who is currently roaming free in the Eugene area, joins Meyerhoff in his collaboration with the authorities, and there is reportedly a third snitch, whose name is not yet confirmed. Needless to say, all support for Meyerhoff has been withdrawn!
